In September 2013,Whiteside’s School of Dance took 50 girls up to Her Majesty’s Theatre, London, to perform four dances on the West End stage!
At 9am the school congregated at the Centenary Hall, Smallfield where we boarded a coach and headed to town!
We spent all day rehearsing in the theatre and finally performed in the evening to all of our friends and family.
Having done Young Performers many times before as a school, we knew what a fun and exciting experience this is for the girls. Dancing on a West End stage is many girls dream and being able to fulfil this is very rewarding.
The coach ride in the morning was as to be expected, loud and noisy, blaring music and 50 girls full of anticipation! When we arrived we were put in the hotel just up from the theatre and as the only school there we had our own room to prepare in.
Girls were chaperoned to and from the theatre as we rehearsed throughout the day and when curtain up arrived the girls were waiting in the wings extremely excited!
Overall we performed 4 dances: Two of our Strictly dances that we felt had to be performed again, a dance from our last show Dance Fusion and a new street number from our oldest girls in the school.
