Spotlight, 2010

In this show we used the ‘Nutcracker’ ballet as a base and worked several dances round this theme. We had sugar mice and soldiers dancing to some very familiar music with a huge Christmas tree in the corner of the stage!

Spooky skeletons entertained us in fabulous costumes, while pirates and ghostbusters made appearances too.
But what we all remember most about Spotlight was the medley of Michael Jackson numbers – this was not long after he had died, and we wanted to pay our tribute to a great songwriter and dancer!
We dedicated this show to a former pupil, Karli Broadbent, who had sadly passed away in July. Her mum, Judy, presented a new cup to the School – The Karli Broadbent memorial Cup for dedication. It is a special award made every two years to someone who Sarah feels has really shown the dedication and enthusiasm that Karli herself showed during her many years with us.
All in all, another brilliant show by Whiteside’s! There’s no stopping us now.
